All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal was established in the year 2012 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). PMSSY is establishing the medical institute with the aim of minimising the regional imbalances in the availability of affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare services and increasing the facilities which promote and provide medical education and research in underserved areas of the country.
