About NIT Karnataka
National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) is located in Surathkal, Mangalore, Karnataka State. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada. Sri U. Srinivasa Mallya established the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC). KREC has changed its name to the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK). The campus premises is named after him as ‘Srinivasnagar’ as a symbol of recognition. The college campus lies over an area of 295 acres of land. NIT Surathkal provides different undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes related to various subjects. NITK provides admission to undergraduate programmes on the basis of JEE Main scores, postgraduate programmes on the basis of GATE scores, MCA programme on the basis of NIMCET scores and MBA programme on the basis of CAT scores. The college also provides admission to doctoral programmes on the basis of the merit of written test and interview scored by students.

NITK is located on the National Highway 66, about 22 kms away from Mangalore. The Institute is easily accessible to Mangalore Railway Station, Mangalore International Airport and the Mangalore Port. Students can take a bus from Mangalore Bus Stand and reach NITK main building. The nearest station to NIT Surathkal is Surathkal Railway Station which is about 2 kms away from the Institute and students can take an auto to reach the campus in about 5 mins. NIT Surathkal is located at a distance of 20 kms from Mangalore International Airport and students can reach the campus in approximately 30 mins.

NIT Surathkal Admission Process 2021
National Institute of Technology, Karnataka admissions are offered to various technical and professional courses. Technical courses offered by NIT Karnataka includes B.Tech, M.Tech while professional courses MBA and MCA. NIT, Karnataka also offers doctoral programmes. For admission to B.Tech programme candidates have to appear and qualify JEE Main and appear for the counselling process conducted by JoSAA. NITK admissions to M.Tech courses will be offered through CCMT counselling on the basis of GATE score. For the MBA programme, candidates have to apply for the programme after which they will be selected for further admission process (GD/PI) on the basis of their in CAT/MAT. Candidates who want to seek admission in the doctoral programme have to qualify the written test followed by the interview process conducted by NIT Karnataka. Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech/B.E programmes, have to appear and qualify JEE Main.

Based on their scores in JEE Main, candidates have to register for JoSAA counselling on the official website of JoSAA along with necessary documents and payment of fees.

Based on their GATE scores, candidates need to register themselves for CCMT counselling by providing GATE credentials, qualifying degrees certificates, personal details etc. and by paying the requisite registration fees.
