About NIT Kurukshetra
The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra) was established in 1963 under the Government of India. The institution was formed under the joint act of both the State and Central Governments. The institute first started functioning as Regional Engineering College (REC) but later got the status of a Deemed University on June 26, 2002. The institute was later renamed as NIT Kurukshetra after it got the status of a Deemed University. NIT Kurukshetra offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various disciplines of engineering. Ph.D. research programmes also are offered in engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as computer applications. MBA and MCA degrees have also started functioning in NIT KKR during the session 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 respectively. The institute offers admission to students for B.Tech programmes with an annual intake of 540 students and 165 students for M.Tech programmes.
Location:-
NIT Kurukshetra is located in Kurukshetra, Haryana. NIT KKR campus is located about 10 km away from Pipli on the Sher Shah Suri Marg and about 5 km away from Kurukshetra Railway station. Students who are travelling by bus need to reach Pipli first, or Kurukshetra Railway Junction if travelling by train. At both places, students can find an auto to NIT Kurukshetra and if they do not find the auto directly then take the auto of Kurukshetra University gate 2 or 3. From there, the campus of NIT KKR can be easily reached by covering a walking distance. The nearest airport to the institute is the Chandigarh Airport which is located at a distance of 160 km away from the institute.
Admissions
NIT Kurukshetra Admission Procedure:-
National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra admissions are offered for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes related to various disciplines. NIT Kurukshetra admissions to B.Tech and B.E programmes are offered based on JEE Main scores, to M.Tech and M.E programmes based on GATE scores, to MBA programmes based on CAT scores and to MCA programmes based on NIMCET scores. The College also offers admissions admissions to Ph.D programmes based on the performance of the written test and interview conducted by the authority. Students have to participate in the counselling process and choose their preferred college and seats will be allotted to them based on the merit of rank. NIT Kurukshetra Admission Procedure for B.Tech programmes-

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech/B.E programmes have to appear and qualify JEE Main conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

Based on their scores in JEE Main, candidates have to register for JoSAA counselling on the official website of JoSAA along with necessary documents and payment of fees.

Candidates need to choose NIT Kurukshetra as the preferred college while doing the choice locking.

Candidates are offered National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra admissions to B.Tech/BE programmes based on JoSAA registration, participation in counselling, choice filling, choice locking, document verification and fee payment.
NIT Kurukshetra Admission Procedure for M.Tech programmes-

Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech/ME programmes need to appear and qualify GATE.

Based on their GATE scores, students can proceed for CCMT counselling that is conducted to admit students to M.Tech/M.E programmes.

Candidates need to register themselves for CCMT counselling by providing GATE credentials, qualifying degrees certificates, personal details etc. and by paying the requisite registration fees.

Candidates will have to select NIT Kurukshetra as their first preference while doing the choice locking.

NIT Kurukshetra admissions to M.E/M.Tech programmes based on the counselling participation, choice locking, choice filling, document verification and payment of fees.

First preference is given to GATE qualifying students and the remaining vacant seats are offered to Non-GATE students scoring a minimum of 60% (55% for SC candidates) in the qualifying examination.
NIT Kurukshetra Admission Procedure for PhD programmes-

Candidates seeking admission to doctoral programmes, need to clear the written test conducted by the respective departments of the institute.

Candidates who will qualify the written test, need to appear for an interview related to their research area.

Based on the marks scored by candidates in their written test and interview, merit list of the eligible candidates will be released by the authority.
